Located in Badagry, Lagos State, the foundation of the historic structure was laid in 1842, but was not completed until 1845.

The building was the resident of returnee slave Samuel Ajayi Crowther, who became the first African C.M.S bishop. Bishop Ajayi Crowther is famously known for translating the Bible from English to Yoruba while residing there.

In the upper floor of the building, there are still translated versions of the Bible by Bishop Crowther. The 173 year old structure continues to withstand the test of time and is slowly becoming a big attraction site.

In 2018, they recorded over 13,600 visitors and that number is expected to rise in 2019.
